Thanks, but please...

We thank you, readers (though you are not a lot), for appreciating the contents of this blog. It is my utmost desire to somehow help other nostalgic people like me to reminisce the past thru pictures, videos and personal entries. But to my dismay, I found out today, that some of my entries and even the 80's Pinas Logo were being used by other people without crediting or putting our blog's link. If you may notice, I am trying my best to give due credit to people whenever I use some of their articles or pictures and I even put links so that my blog readers can go and check out the website where I obtain the information. I believe that it is expected from a 'responsbile' blogger, or at the least, from a 'responsible' person. I hope people will be more responsible and CONSIDERATE of others as much as possible. Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy browsing through my blogsite. I'll put up some new entries soon.

Thanks!

Bazooka Joe

As far as I can remember, talagang ito ang bubble gum ng bayan noon.

The best!

Actress: Michiko Makino
Role: Katsuragi Hikaru
Age: 20 years old
Weapons:Super Electron Beamlight, Pink Barrier and Laser Sword
Attacks: Pink Flash and Spin Chop
Birthday: October 3, 1964

The Master of the Universe

I am... HEMAN!

"HEMAN, the master of the Universe"! Hearing and saying that makes me laugh now. =)

Haha, i remember ang craze noon for PANINI STICKERS & STICKER ALBUMS!

I had Barbie and my brother had Thundercats. Good thing, we have a few relatives from the States at pinadadalhan nila kami ng mga stickers and coloring books na hindi mabibili dito sa Pinas.

Who would forget Skeletor and his evil followers??? Hanggang ngayon nga, memorable siya sa amin to the point na ginagamit namin ang kanyang name to describe someone. Sama no? Hehe.

Talagang nakakamiss ang past. I don't know for others, maybe they are not that much into reminiscing and revisitng the past, pero ako I truly love doing that. It kinda' makes me bring out the child in me and it reminds me of the happy days that oftentimes I hardly find today. Knowing how happy and memorable my childhood days were is enough to motivate me to make the most out of today so that I could have enough happy memories to look back to when the future comes.

Champions

link: click VIDEO for the MOVIE PLAYLIST
thanks to MightyDucksFan101 for the movie upload

Early nineties was when I first watched the movie Champions (I). Actually, a lot of people mistaken the title Mighty Ducks for the first sequel of this movie while in fact it is Champions I. I didn't see this in a cinema but you know the eighties Betamax is a child's bestfriend. No cable tv, no psp's, no internet. If you want to have fun either you go out and play with friends, go play your atari, family computer or game n' watch, or watch a betamax tape. My dad isn't a fan of going to the malls or watching movies in cinema houses. After all, as a family we had a very unpleasant experience in a cinema while watching a movie so we understood why our dad prefered to have us spend the weekends at home. To compensate for this, he never failed to bring home at least 3 betamax tapes (and most of the time more) for us to watch. My mom will cook merienda while we're watching and when finished she will serve it to us.

Allow me to boast that I saw this film way before it became famous here in the Philippines. I remember, the day after after I saw this I asked my classmates if they knew the movie about a group of peewee hockey players who at first were a bunch of losers but in the end managed to be champions. No one knew about it yet. I even proclaimed that I have a crush on one of the players named Adam Banks.

The day he went home with this, he told me that the video shop owner (since he was a very loyal suki) recommended this movie and even said that "your kids will absolutely love this!".

And we did! I really loved this film when I was a child. Since I love sports and was hoping to play for my school someday, I adored this movie like crazy. I even memorized their names and jersey numbers. I watched this movie over and over again for a month. Luckily, my dad didn't mind that he needed to pay for penalties for returning the tape late.
The first part of the movie tells the story of main character of the story, Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez, son of famous hollywood actor Martin Sheen and brother of Charlie Sheen). He used to play for the Hawks, the best recordholder of championships in the little league. The team was undefeated until Gordon missed a shot and cost the Hawks their first and only loss. Deeply hurt and affected by that event, Gordon turned away from hockey, a sport he always loved since he was a kid. He then became a district attorney but then his fate cannot be changed. Facing DUI charges, he was asked to do community service
and that is to coach a peewee team of hockey players.

Who caught my eye??? Of course, the cake eater!!! Adam Banks is the name and love is the game. Haha. I had a major crush on him. MAJOR CRUSH. He looked so fine playing hockey and playing a bad ass, spoiled, rich kid. He's so cute! And now, he looks even more fine. He now has a band and he plays the bass, i guess. I was so thrilled when Gordon Bombay found out that Banks (Vincent Larusso) should be playing for the peewee's and not for the hawks. Why??? Of course, that meant A LOT OF CAMERA EXPOSURES. At first, I thought he was just an extra. Good thing he wasn't!

But when girls my age saw this movie, they can't get enough of the cute face of Charlie's (Joshua Jackson). Conway, being the captain of the peewees sure is a fine leader! His face is really endearing, I agree. Who knows he will be the cute clown of Capeside? He made my jaw drop when I saw him with Paul Walker in The Skulls. Charlie has come a long way from the Champions.

I remember, girls in our school used to do a poll vote of who's more cuter, Charlie or Adam. I voted like a maniac!!! Ready to bite anyone who would say anything bad about him. But now, I'm cooler. They are both cute and charming little hotties. Who wouldn't fall for them???
After Champions I came Mighty Ducks (D2) and then Mighty Ducks 3 (D3). New characters were added while some characters weren't there anymore. I liked Julie "The Cat" Gaffney. She played really good as the goalkeeper. She's cute, too. Keenan Thompson appeared in D2 and was known for his "knuckle puck time". This trilogy really made an impact to us especially in our neighborhood. Back in the 80's roller skates were the it thing, but during the 90's it was roller blades. My brother and I even asked our Aunt who was in the States to send us roller blades and she did. The kids in our neighborhood played street hockey. We used a puck and we made the hockey sticks buy taping (masking tape) together. We played on the street perpendicular to ours because it always got it's asphalt replaced every once in awhile. My brothers and his friends spent hours and hours to master tricks like flips and turns (triple-d). I remember, he got a lot of wounds while practicing.
Enjoy watching this movie again and maybe you'll be reminded of some memorable days in your past!

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

"Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story- (throws powder onto the fire) The Tale of..."

Eighties kids did really enjoy the eighties but I bet all 80's kids will agree that we still had a blast during the 90's. One of my favorite foreign tv programs is this, Are You Afraid of the Dark. I used to watch this all the time in ABS-CBN back in the days where cable tv is still for the rich. This was when my parents were still both working so they had to stay out sometimes even late at night so it was only us, my siblings, who were at home.

My brother and sisters were not fans of horror stories, more so horror movies. But I was. I love the thrill of watching one and then trying your best not to flinch or scream when the scary scenes are on. In our street, there used to be a vacant lot right before the very first house from the entrance.

It has a mango tree that gives shade when it's sunny. It's a perfect place for midnight society wannabe's. Me and my friend were planning to meet there and tell scary stories that we know of but my father found out about it and forbade me to. Our father loves telling horror stories. For him, the best time to do this is when the electricity is out. Remember Cory days with long hours of brown out?

I will never forget his story about this place they went to when the company sent them to visit one of their electric powerplants. They were housed in an old hotel, given they went to a far away province (I forgot where). He told us that his co-workers love staying out at night. Our father doesn't. So one night, when his friends were out of the hotel enjoying the night he experienced one of the scariest experience one can ever have.

There were talks among them that the bathroom at the end of the hallway is haunted. Some say they sense something or someone inside one of the cubicles. Others say they can hear heavy breathing but can't find where it's coming from.
Since almost everybody's out, my dad went to the bathroom to take a bath before sleeping. It so happen that one of his colleagues was there brushing his teeth. Then, as they were doing their business they heard someone close the door of one of the cubicles. After my dad finished his bath he went out and his colleague was also almost done brushing and cleaning his face. Another co-worker entered and he was in a hurry to take a pee. My dad and his colleague both informed the man that he has to wait because someone was inside the cubicle taking a leak. They waited for minutes. Now, my dad said he became curious of who the person was inside the cuble. He said even his colleagues were curious as well. According to him he felt like they were all thinking about the "talks" about the bathroom. One of his colleagues can't hold his curiosity anymore and so he asked "Matagal ka pa ba, pare?". No one answered. Then he pushed the door of the cubicle and it opened...

...no one was inside. My dad and his colleague both wondered. Who came in and shut the door? The next night, my dad's friends went out again. He was left alone in the room. He was already lying in bed when he felt someone was breathing behind him. He also felt that someone was lying in the bed too. He is not the type who would jump up when he's scared because he is good at controlling his fear, my dad slowly got up from the bed (didn't see anyone on the bed) and went out. He was so curious of what had happened in the room that he started to find out what's really going on in the hotel. He can still hear the breathing. It's as if someone is dying. My dad said it was the kind of breathing that an old person who is so sick does. He went to the hallway, passed the bathroom and he found the room for the hotel's caretakers. My dad said the caretakers were a small family, an old parents and two children. He often saw the dad but never the mom. My dad said the old man told him that his wife is sickly so she rarely gets out of their room. During their stay in the old hotel, my dad used to see the old man with his children always cooking something in a big pot in the yard infront of the hotel every night in the late hours.

When he reached that room the breathing grew louder. As quiet as possible, he slightly opened the door to see what or better yet who was inside. There she saw a very very old lady, naked, lying on the bed, hunched like a baby and she was heavily breathing. The old lady was almost bald and she was as pale as a ghost. My dad slowly walked away from the room and by the time he reached the bathroom he came across with the old man on his way back to the room.

My dad said he got scared after seeing that. Who doesn't? After telling us the story, still the electricity is out, he told me and my brother to get back to our room to sleep. He said that we should not fear things that we cannot see. In short, my brother and I slept in our room that night fearing for our lives!
